“Once upon a time.”
Aren’t those wonderful words to begin a story? “Once upon a time” promises something: a story of adventure and romance, a story of princesses and princes. It may include tales of courage, hope, and everlasting love. In many of these stories, nice overcomes mean and good overcomes evil. But perhaps most of all, I love it when we turn to the last page and our eyes reach the final lines and we see the enchanting words “And they lived happily ever after.” President Uchtdorf
This is a dream of any little girl, and for our handsome boys as well. I know for a fact that if I had heard this talk by President Uchtdorf while I was in Young Womens, I would've have soaked in every word he said. Even though I have found my true love, I still couldn't get enough of what he had to say about the tale of ones life.
I am a dreamer, a romantic, and a fairytale planner. I use to imagine myself pulling warm cookies from the oven right at the very moment that my children would come running through the door, I would scoop them up with big hugs, snuggle them a bit, and welcome them home to a great place filled with love. Or how about how wonderful it would be every winter day to snuggle up by a warm fireplace with someone you love. Yep I had it all planned....it would be wonderful.
Maybe I would meet my truelove with a trueloves kiss. Well, I did actually. Three days after our first date, he says it was all my fault because I hugged him a little longer than normal. So he kissed me. Just a perfect kiss, and then left after saying, "good night."
We were instantly friends, our love was completely childlike. I know it may sound strange to compare it to the way children love, but it really was simple, it was easy to love him. So we dated for a handful of weeks, and then one weekend we talked about marriage....it went something like this "Do you want to get married?" "Yes" We might as well have written it on a piece of paper, rolled it up in a ball, and passed the note,
"Rob, will you marry me? Check the box"

I told you it was a childlike love. So after a month of dating we got engage, and 5 months after that we found ourself married for time and all eternity. But the story doesn't end there, the final pages have not been turned...we have a whole lot more to tell.
Today, after 9 years, 3 months, and 6 days we find ourselves with a family...We've added 4 more people to our little story. And there have been many happy filled days!!! Trials have come, and sometimes the storms seem to never end, hearts have been broken, toes have been stepped on, exhaustion has been a guest for quite awhile, sickness runs around our home causing havoc, but in the end good has always won.
I cling to the words of President Uchtdorf, "Sisters, those words are true! They are not made up in a fairy tale! Isn’t it remarkable to know that our eternal Heavenly Father knows you, hears you, watches over you, and loves you with an infinite love? In fact, His love for you is so great that He has granted you this earthly life as a precious gift of “once upon a time,” complete with your own true story of adventure, trial, and opportunities for greatness, nobility, courage, and love. And, most glorious of all, He offers you a gift beyond price and comprehension. Heavenly Father offers to you the greatest gift of all—eternal life—and the opportunity and infinite blessing of your own “happily ever after.”
I look forward to many more "happy" days in our life ahead, I can't wait for the walks we will go on, the bar-b-ques we will have, the baseball games (in the rain), the dance competition, the quiet talks, the hugs and kisses along the way, the campouts (especially the smores), the laughter we will share, the grandchildren, the holidays and birthday parties we will plan, the missions we will go on, and then in the end I can't wait to meet my Father in Heaven and with Rob turn our final page that shows our castle in the skies with the words below, "and they lived happily ever after."
